BRIDAL TOUCHUP KIT

Packing yourself a touchup kit is the secret weapon to keeping your wedding makeup looking fresh and flawless all night long. You certainly won’t need to reapply everything, but staying on top of a few things throughout the day will make a big difference. I always recommend refreshing your lipstick, toning down any shine (especially my summer brides), and keeping some concealer handy for that pesky zit you woke up with. Here are my top picks for what you should keep with you to stay picture-perfect all day. xoKL

LIPSTICK/GLOSS Even the longest-wearing lipsticks need a second glance when you are wearing them for 12+ hours! Be sure to reapply after meals and before photos.

SHINE CONTROL Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE glowing skin but when that glow creeps into the T-zone we have a problem! Too much shine in the center of the face can read as sweat. Be sure to tame any shine between the brows, on the sides of the nose, top lip, and chin. Use blotting papers, pressed powder with a puff, or both!

BLEMISH COVER You might need to reapply concealer on a particularly stubborn blemish - especially if it is around the mouth where you may disturb the makeup when eating or kissing. I prefer a concealer pencil for this quick touchup because the formula is more concentrated and easier to work with on a small spot. Also, it is less likely to accidentally drip or stain your dress if you drop it (my worst nightmare)!

Q-TIPS/MAKEUP REMOVER Plain cotton swabs are great for lightly buffing away any under-eye smudges or creasing that may occur throughout the day or after shedding a few tears. Dampen a cotton swab with makeup remover to remove a more serious smudge. There are also pre-loaded cotton swabs that release makeup remover into the cotton when you snap the end - very handy for your purse!

EYELINER If you’re a lover of eyeliner on your lower waterline, make sure you have a waterproof pencil handy for touchups. The lower rim of the eye is in constant contact with moisture so even the most waterproof pencils need a refresh after several hours - tears or not!

CONTACTS/SOLUTION Having an extra set (or two!) of your contacts can be a lifesaver! Sometimes mascara or makeup particles make their way into the eye and onto your lenses. Pack a fresh set just in case you need them. Trust me.

WHEN TO PAUSE FOR TOUCHUPS? You will only need to pause for a few quick touchup breaks throughout the day. Plan for them after meals and before photos - and/or with any needed bathroom breaks. Keep these items in your bag, in the bridal suite, or assign a bridesmaid or bridal attendant to hold on to them for you.
